Explore the old Dubai

A great way to explore United Arab Emirates and know more about Emiratis tradition and culture is to visit old places. Have a general Idea about some of the history and take a look of how much Dubai has changed throughout the years. My recommendation would be to go to Bastakiya Quarter, Dubai Creek and safari trip during winter.

 Bastakiya Quarter

The Quarter is home to many fine art galleries, cafes, and boutique hotels. It is also home to what is believed to be the oldest existing building in Dubai, the Al Fahidi Fort. Built around 1787, the Al Fahidi Fort stood to guard the town against raids from surrounding tribes. At times the Fort was also used as the Ruler’s palace.

The Al Fahidi Fort also houses the Dubai Museum. Opened in 1971 and restored in 1993, the Dubai Museum gives a glimpse into the rich history of the area, from astronomy to life as it was before the discovery of oil.

Dubai Creek

The seawater Dubai Creek (Khor Dubai), flowing between Deira and Bur Dubai in the historic center of the United Arab Emirates city of the same name, is the reason for Dubai's very existence. When trade with the outside world began over a century ago, this protected inlet was the obvious choice to develop a commercial seaport. The creek has been widened many times during the last century, and today, it's often busy with abra — small wooden water taxis — ferrying passengers between the souks of Deira on the northeastern bank and the historic district of Bur Dubai on the southwestern bank.

Safari trip

A Dubai desert safari is the ultimate travel experience, out most comprehensive tours come complete with 4x4 dune bashing, camel rides and a mouth-watering barbeque dinner accompanied by a belly dancing performance. Book your Dubai desert safari with Local Dubai Tours, the Dubai experts, and take the hassle out of planning your desert safari.
